Built to last

THE WINDSOR CLASSIC BESPOKE BUILD PROCESS

10 Steps to perfection

EACH RESTORATION TAKES IN EXCESS OF 1600 HOURS, BROKEN DOWN INTO 10 STAGES.

01.

Design

Our team will work with you to develop a build spec that meets your vision and budget.

Working with us we’ll start to dream up your dream car. We can outfit your Land Rover Defender, Series I, II, IIA and III to meet your vision, restoring to original condition when desired or upgrading to a more modern engine, transmission, braking system and more. Every detail of your restoration will be meticulously addressed.

We always retain a certain amount of stock for restorations. By request, we can also source an ideal donor vehicle.

We can support you sourcing the ideal donor car. We have experience in finding the correct model that meets your needs, such as export considerations or specific features. We then conduct a full inspection during the disassembly and itemise parts by condition in order to finalise the build spec.

Every project is stripped down to a bare chassis and evaluated prior to finalisation of build spec

Stripping down the vehicle lets us get our first close look at the underlying condition of the project. From here we discuss what parts we will restore, what parts will be upgraded, and what parts will be replaced.

Chassis Refurbishment

04.

The chassis is always the starting point for any build.

Once stripped, we acid dip before conducting fabrication repairs. We then hot dip galvanize the chassis before coating with a ruggedized coating that is optimised for corrosion prevention. Alternatively when required or requested, we source a new galvanised chassis which we apply the same coating to.

The Engine, Transmission and gearbox will undergo a full rebuild.

Each component is meticulously disassembled, inspected, and restored to precise tolerances—bearings, cranks, and moving parts are replaced entirely. Our aim is simple: to deliver performance that exceeds factory standards, ensuring smooth, reliable driving for years to come.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

We restore the running gear with a selection of upgrades to improve the driving experience.

Once reinstalled, every component is tested and fine-tuned for optimal performance. This stage allows us the access and visibility needed to ensure that every system functions exactly as intended—refined, reliable, and ready for the road.

ROLLING CHASSIS

Every vehicle is stripped back to its bare bones—every panel, bracket, and bolt.

Regardless of the donor vehicle’s condition, we fully disassemble and hand-restore each component with care. While some panels are replaced for integrity, our priority is preserving and revitalizing as much of the original bodywork as possible—honouring the vehicles legacy with craftsmanship and attention to detail.

As part of safety inspection and quality assurance, we conduct a comprehensive road test.

As part of our safety inspection and quality assurance process, each vehicle is driven through a series of 50-mile tests—refined and adjusted between runs until it’s mechanically settled and performing exactly as it should. From tight corners to steep 25% gradients, we push every build to ensure it’s ready for anything.
