#18 - HKO
1959 Series 2
-
Sometimes a Land Rover chooses you. HKO is a 1959 Series II 88" — one of the very earliest of her kind — sourced from a regular supplier and quietly waiting in the yard at Windsor Classics when her future owner happened to spot her. He had come to visit the workshops to check on his own build in progress, but it was three letters on a number plate that stopped him in his tracks. HKO — the three-letter airport code for Hong Kong, where he currently lives and works. Some things, it seems, are simply meant to be.

Not every Land Rover needs to conquer mountains. Sometimes the finest brief of all is simply this — build something that makes life more enjoyable. HKO's new owner had a very clear vision for their short wheelbase Series II: a relaxed, open-topped summer cruiser, beautifully trimmed, comfortable enough for guests, and with enough charm to put a smile on everyone's face from the moment you pull out of the drive. A Sunday morning. A country pub. Good company in the back. Really, what more could one ask of a classic Land Rover?
