#3 - NYL
1964 Series 2A
-
Some vehicles arrive with a history that simply cannot be invented. NYL is one of those. A 1964 Series IIA, she is reported to have served as the head zookeeper's car at Whipsnade — and lest anyone doubt the provenance, she still bore the original tranquilliser gun mounts inside her truck cab when we found her. Sourced from the small ads in the back of a 4x4 magazine, NYL came to us with the kind of quiet, characterful past that makes these vehicles so utterly irreplaceable.
She was our first demonstrator — a vehicle we built not for a client but for ourselves, to stand proudly on our behalf and show the world what Windsor Classics is about. She has done so with distinction ever since, a familiar and much-admired presence on our stands at Goodwood Revival and numerous other events. NYL remains in Windsor Classics ownership to this day, and we have no intention of letting her go.
-
A benchmark build, pure and simple. NYL was to be the vehicle that embodied our expertise and our passion in equal measure — a showcase of what a ground-up restoration from Windsor Classics looks and feels like, from the first nut to the last bolt. She needed to be authentic, beautiful, and ready to charm anyone who set eyes on her.
